An easy day of biking today, 51 km under a beautiful sun. I have been told that generally the wind is from West to East; well, I have to say that until now, it is not the case.

Wednesday morning was very hard for me. One of these mornings when you body doe not want to respond; a shame since the road was beautiful. I was tired after only 6 km, and all of a sudden, the old machine had her power back and I was back.

On a day like today, I ask myself why am I doing this, why am I putting my body thru this. The answers sometimes only come later.

For the Hamilton session on Wednesday night, there was not many people but a young man, Jacob, who is a 14 years old heart recipient was present. Do you want to know how long Jacob as been a heart recipient? 14 years and he is doing great things with his life. He is a champion at the last Canadian Transplant Games that were held in Quebec City. He is a true miracle and a wonderful inspiration. There was also a lady, Ms. Douglas, who travelled one hour and half by taxi to come and see my session. She only saw half of the interview given to the CHCH Hamilton, she called into the station to get more information and decided to travel to come and see me. This was her birthday gift to herself. She has health issues and has difficulty moving but being there was more difficult for her than biking 80 km for me.

She is also a great inspiration for myself and I won’t ask myself again why I am doing this or why my body sometimes has more difficulty following me.

Une petite journée de vélo aujourd’hui, 51 km sous un beau soleil. On m’avait informé que généralement le vent est d’Ouest en Est, et bien, pour l’instant, il en est rien.

Ce matin, le début a été difficile pour moi. Un de ces matins où ton corps ne veut pas répondre à la demande. Pourtant la route était si belle. J’étais épuiser après seulement 6 km, et puis soudainement, ma vieille machine s’est mise à fonctionner.

Lors de journée comme celle-ci, on se demande pourquoi je force mon corps ainsi, pourquoi je lui impose de faire cet effort. Les réponses ne viennent que plus tard.

Il n’y a pas eu beaucoup de personne à la présentation de Hamilton mercredi soir. Mais dans la salle, il y avait le jeune Jacob, 14 ans, qui est greffé du cœur depuis… 14 ans!!! Un champion au dernier Jeux Canadiens des Greffés qui ont eu lieu à Québec. Un vrai miracle et bel exemple de persévérance. Il y a eu aussi cette dame, Madame Douglas, qui n’était pas une transplantée, ni une candidate en attente; elle a vu la moitié de l’entrevue donné au CHCH Hamilton le matin même et elle voulait en savoir plus donc elle a téléphoné à la station pour demander l’endroit de ma conférence. Elle a fait une heure et demie de route en taxi pour venir écouter ma conférence; c’était son cadeau de fête qu’elle s’offrait. Cette dame a des problèmes de santé, elle a de la difficulté à se déplacer mais elle a voulu se déplacer pour venir me rencontrer. Je suis certain que se déplacer est plus difficile pour elle, que pour moi de faire 80 km par jour.

Cette dame est un exemple pour moi, et je ne vais plus chercher pourquoi je fais ceci, pourquoi certain matin mon corps ne veux pas.

Un petit mot pour ma gentille et extraordinaire madame Douglas… je ne peux que vous dire merci d’avoir été le soleil de ma journée. Bonne fête, bonne santé et Take care.
